You may not know what an arpeggiator is but it is almost certain you have heard this effect used in a song at some point in your life. Arpeggiators were a big part of the 80’s synth uprising with bands like Erasure, Depeche Mode, and Kraftwerk all featuring them heavily in their songs. If you have some experience in MIDI and want to use this iconic style in your musical creations, the ARPIE board designed by Hotchk155 will let you do just that.
The kit comes with two circuit boards with all of the SMD parts pre-soldered, leaving the easier through hole stuff to be soldered by you. Hotchk155 has done an amazing job of documenting the project and everything from the PCB to the firmware is entirely open source. Every aspect of the build you could possibly want to know about is listed over on his website. This includes a link to a GitHub repository with eagle PCB board files and the latest version of the ARPIE firmware.
