If you’re into DIY electronics projects (which is a good bet since you’re reading this blog), you occasionally have to do soldering. Whether you think it’s a chore to be endured (as I do) or you actually enjoy it, having something to keep your parts steady is always helpful.
Much of the time these helpers come in the form of alligator clips held onto some sort of movable fixture. This works, but isn’t really the best for holding small circuit boards. If this is a problem that you need solved, then perhaps these cylindrical PCB holders from Pelle Handmade might be what you need.
These aluminum or brass holders are hand turned on a lathe, and nicely knurled for a good grip. They’re magnetized on the bottom, so they can attach to something ferromagnetic when in use, or even to a computer case for a convenient storage method. It’s a really simple and clever device that, at a price of $5.00, seems like a great find. Unfortunately, it is coming from Thailand, so shipping to the United States will cost more than the device.
On the other hand, there are a few other goodies on Pelle handmade’s store, including an interesting aluminum Arduino enclosure. Perhaps combining shipping on a few items could help offset this cost.
