We’ve featured some tiny dev boards before so you may be wondering why you are here again, looking at yet another microcontroller wedged onto a ridiculously small PCB. The reason is this board, the little2wire, doubles as an AVR ISP programmer right out of the box. You can leave it lying in a parts bin and whip it out whenever an AVR chip needs programming or whenever you need some GPIO pins attached to a USB port.
The little2wire board comes with an ATtiny85 pre-loaded with the micronucleus bootloader making it enumerate as a USB device without need for additional chips on the board. You can call this a comeback… the little2wire is based off of a through hole ATtiny85 soldering kit called the littlewire. Sticking to the mantra: if it can be made smaller, someone will make it smaller, this took inspiration from other tiny dev boards we’ve featured like the DigiSpark.
