If you grew up in the 1980s or ’90s, there is a good chance you remember songs from your favorite video games fondly. The creators of these songs were obviously working with limited resources, but came up with many catchy themes nonetheless. If you’d like to create tunes like this yourself on a syntheziser modelled after the NES, now you can with the 8-Bit Power Synthesizer from Handmade Electronic Instruments.
Although it may look vaguely like an NES or its controllers, the body is actually aluminum, and features inputs and outputs to help you work with other audio devices. Perhaps most important is the 1/4 inch audio output, which would allow you to plug in to an amplifier. This could mean entertaining yourself, or perhaps even an impromptu concert for passersby, apartment neighbors, or whatever public address system you happen to gain access to.

If you think that is cool, this isn’t the only device by Handmade Electronic Instruments. Be sure to check them out to see what else is available!
