Soon we’ll be heading into the season where we have several holidays in quick succession, and to a greater or lesser extent we all get involved in our own way. In order to get everyone in the spirit, check out these lighting solder kits from Low Voltage Labs:
Ghost Kit
The Ghost PCB kit, which lights up a pair of flashing green LED eyes on a white ghost-shaped PCB. This would certainly work well for Halloween!
Pumpkin Kit
The Pumpkin PCB kit, which lights up a single, but very large, 10mm flickering LED. It’s shaped like a pumpkin, and the coin cell battery holder is at a right angle to the PCB. This allows it to stand up, perhaps on top of an actual pumpkin as pictured here. It would also make a good alternative to a candle in a Jack-O-Lantern, and could even work well for your Thanksgiving feast!
Snowman Kit
Finally, this snowman PCB comes with an LED nose, and two flashing RGB LEDS for buttons. Perfect as a stocking stuffer or Christmas ornament!
All of these look, if I’m allowed to say it, adorable. They would be a great intro to soldering for kids, or a semi-DIY gift for those that would rather have something assembled.
They’re great examples of taking a simple circuit board that might appeal only to those technically-minded, and turning it into something fun and appealing to a everyone.
