I have a confession to make. I was one of those people who totally bought into the 3D TV trend. I know, I know, but it just seemed so cool at the time. I even still have a 3D television, but I rarely use the function since I own around five 3D Blu-rays.
If you’re like me and you have a pair of active 3D shutter glasses collecting dust, then you’ve come to the right place. The LCD Rainbow glasses adapter from OmberTech breathes new life into your old 3D glasses.
The adapter applies a unique drive signal to the LCD lenses, which produces a refractive effect. You’ll see objects in your vision suddenly surrounded by a rainbow of colors.
You can purchase the completed adapter, or opt for a kit that you can build yourself. There are also a limited number of glasses you can purchase with the adapter. While there’s no guarantee that every model of active 3D glasses will work, these models have been tested:
- Eye3D Stereo3D Glasses
- Hisense FPS3D02
The Samsung SSG-5100GB doesn’t work, so it’s important to look at what type of glasses you have on hand. A 22-page instruction booklet is included that also details the usage, theory, and circuit of the adapter.
You will need four AA batteries and a 3.5mm inline socket for connecting wired 3D shutter glasses as these things are not included.
