Experimenting with sound and soldering for the first time is an immensely fun experience, and the Beginner Bleeps Kit is the ideal place to start! It generates sound from six different oscillators (sound sources), can be controlled like a Theremin, and allows you to change and customize the way it sounds to your taste – or simply see what happens through trial and error.
This sound machine comes as a kit with all the components you need to start making noise. Looking at the board, you’ll see slots labelled with the word Freq – where you can insert a range of different capacitors to dictate the pitch of each sound source. Then, controlling the pitch range can be done through conventional knobs or using LDRs (Light Dependent Resistors), for some Theremin-esque playing – these are included in the kit.
There are also slots to experiment with the Mix of each sound – making it a good learning experience for anyone starting up in the world of electronics. It’s powered from a 9V battery and has a line level output to get it working with other effects units and pedals.
