ZiggyTheHamster, a hardware hacker who enjoys making mods for systems and whose first computer was the IBM PCjr., has set his sights on fixing a bug in decades-old Tandy computers.
The TandyMod+ Kit for IBM PCjr‘s purpose is to fix a memory mapping issue with Tandy 1000 applications. The Tandy 1000 is an IBM PCjr clone, but it has an annoying bug where the video memory is not fully utilized. This created a graphical issue where black bars run through the picture.
This mod fixes that and allows Tandy 1000 applications to access the full 32KB of video memory, which creates a clearer picture.
When you take a look at a side by side visual comparison of the application before and after the mod is installed it’s quite impressive!
Each TandyMod+ Kit includes one TandyMod+ ROM adapter board with ROM inserted and one DIP-16 socket. Each mod comes pre-tested and ready to go. So, go check out this sweet product if you’re tired of viewing your Tandy applications through window blinds!
