There are a huge number of guitar effects to choose from, with a world of wah pedals, phasers, flangers, reverbs, delays, and distortions to create your ideal sound. The 8BitM8 GTR is a rare effect known as a bit crusher, which reduces the number of times the incoming signal is sampled to create glistening harmonic overtones, digital distortions, and a distinctly lo-fi flavour.
The 8BitM8 GTR is a fully digital bitcrusher, which has controls for mix, tone, and sample rate. Adjusting each of these will give you anything from a light shimmering sizzle to a deeply degraded crunch – with controls for 4, 6 and 8-Bit processing. The built-in stomp switch works in both latching and momentary modes, for instantly responsive toe-triggering or a more sustained, conventional on/off switching.
Choose from a range of vibrant colour combinations, with single tone or two layered – as pictured above. A bitcrusher is an ideal effect for lofi styles of music and is fantastic when used in conjunction with delays, filters and reverbs amongst others.
The 8BitM8 GTR is made and sold by midierror, who is building up a host of music products for audio and MIDI alike. Watch the video below to hear what his latest design sounds like:
