Independent sellers are all about creative ideas and designs free from the limitations of conventional thinking and mass market production lines The MadLab Noise Toy is a great example of this, being inspired by the combination of circuit bending and classic electronics kids toys. The first thing you’ll have to decipher is how it actually works, but don’t worry, there are some clues to help you!
The Noise Toy has been created to illustrate the methodology of circuit bending, by connecting various universal points on a PCB to deliberately mess things up. It’s covered in strange symbols and shapes which all have a relationship to their electronic features. If you’re not feeling like inspector gadget there is a cheat sheet which explains exactly how you can control the madness!
The Noise Toy is powered by a 2.1mm DC power supply (or battery snap), and comes with a mono 3.5mm audio out socket. It’s totally possible to add things like variable resistors, LDRs and other such interfaces to control each element, you can also simply connect them with wires.
It comes as a DIY kit with all the components you need to get glitching! Check out some of the demos on soundcloud:
