MIDI controllers are incredibly useful for making music, giving you a tactile connection to the sounds from pushing buttons and turning knobs. The Card Sized MIDI Controller is a small device with 6 push buttons and 6 knobs which will output MIDI CCs (Control Change) messages to your software or external gear. It has USB MIDI which connects directly to a computer and will link up with any music programs you’re using which receive MIDI CCs.
As well as USB MIDI, the Card Sized MIDI Controller comes in two forms, with a traditional 5-Pin Din socket and MIDI TRS minijack. Most MIDI controllers tend to be quite big and bulky to carry round, but this is small enough to fit in your pocket and will cover your needs for music making on the move. In addition to choosing MIDI output, you can add metal potentiometers for a more rugged device.
The Card-Sized MIDI Controller was originally designed to be a controller for the ZOIA modular pedal which is big on features but has limited controls. It’s accessible from an ICSP port which means the firmware can be updated or hacked to suit your needs. It’s available from Sensai’s Synthstuff who are based in Madrid, Spain.
