We’re definitely old enough to remember the heyday of the cassette tape as an audio medium and as the data storage for our Commodore 64! There used to be heaps of cassette box storage options; wall-mounted racks and stackable boxes of pull-out drawers. However, most systems only showed off the cassette box spine. It’s unusual these days to see a new storage idea for the cassette tape, let alone one with a new twist that shows off the lovely cassette box artwork!
This Cassette Floating Shelf Display System is a pretty unobtrusive 3D print design which creates an individual shelf for each cassette box you want to display. They affix to your wall using “Command” strips which are essentially small patches of double-sided sticky tape. Each 3D-printed shelf nestles the cassette box with a lip on either side to hold it securely facing out from the wall and show off its lovely artwork.
They are sold as a set of 9 shelves and Winstonsamen handily includes a 3D-printed spacer tool that helps you easily create an accurate display without a tape measure. They are available in a range of colours — or if you would like a mixed pack of colours you can message Winstonsamen to discuss all the options. If you’ve got some cassettes you want to show off, check the listing out!
