It’s hard to argue the point that Arduino products have been extremely instrumental in enabling people to experiment with electronics and microcontrollers like never before. Like any product, once you start using these boards there are a few things that might annoy you. The ArduSHIELD, available on Tindie, attempts to address at least two of them.
First, if you want to make something beyond blinking a few LEDs, you need to break things out on a breadboard. This normally means a mess of jumper wires. ArduSHIELD breaks all of your pins out in a board that plugs into both your Arduino and a breadboard, cutting out this task simple. It also breaks power out Arduino power to the breadboard’s rails, which can be disabled as needed.
Another annoyance is that once you “graduate” from the Uno to other boards like the Nano or Micro, most expansion shields won’t work. The ArduSHIELD doesn’t have this drawback. It acts as a sort of adapter to use many other boards with Uno shields, further simplifying your project.
