Photographers are always chasing that perfect picture. Various equipment helps us inch ever closer to what we’re looking for, but countless factors often get in the way. These factors are even more apparent when you’re dealing with high-resolution photos.
Tindie seller DIY Imaging ran into an issue when he was using a commercial extension tube from a reputable supplier. The tube didn’t perform well in High Dynamic Range (HDR) conditions while scanning a black and white film negative. Like so many other makers, he decided to build the solution himself.
The result is a five-piece Microscope Macro set for Sony E-Mount Cameras. The set includes two E-mount adapters which are 20mm and 40mm respectively, two tube extensions at 40mm each, and one RMS microscope objective adapter.
Both the E-mount adapters and RMS adapterĀ are equipped with anodized aluminum connectors. The adopter cones are made of 3D printed PLA. This set also uses a special inner geometry that reduces unwanted reflections from reaching the camera. The set allows six different magnifications from the same microscope objective.
